Iniciou o seu percurso profissional como Bioestatístico ao serviço da Associação Nacional de Farmácias em 2004, tendo ainda exercido funções na Exigo Consultores de 2005 a 2007. Exerce funções na Universidade de York desde 2011, tendo sido Professor Assistente Honorário da School of Medicine na Universidade de Nottingham entre 2017 e 2021. É membro do Comitê de HTA do NICE (UK) desde 2021 e membro da Comissão Executiva da CATS/INFARMED desde 2023.

Vice Presidente of supervisory board of APES since 2023, Pedro Saramago holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Lisbon, an MSc in Health Economics from the University of York and a PhD in Economics from the University of York. He currently works as a Senior Health Economist at the Centre for Health Economics, University of York, United Kingdom.
He began his professional career as a Biostatistician at the National Association of Pharmacies in 2004, followed by consultancy at Exigo Consultores from 2005 to 2007. Pedro has been working for the University of York since 2011, having held an Honorary Assistant Professor position at the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, from 2017 to 2021. Pedro is a NICE HTA committee member since 2021 and a member of the Executive Commission of CATS/INFARMED since 2023.
Interests and activities carried out in the field of health economics
Pedro has over 15 years of experience in Health Economics, Health Technology Assessment, and Health Services Research. He has an extensive research portfolio, including both applied and methodological research, with expertise in decision economic modelling, evidence synthesis, Bayesian methods, and value of information analyses.
