Senior Lecturer in Health Economics in the Division of Health Research at Lancaster University, United Kingdom. She holds a PhD in Public Health-Health Economics from the National School of Public Health, Nova University of Lisbon in Portugal, an MSc in European Social Policy Analysis from Bath University in the UK, and graduated in Economics from ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, Lisbon University in Portugal. Between 2001 and 2014 she was Assistant Professor of Health Economics at the National School of Public Health at University Nova of Lisbon. She worked for the Institute of Management and IT (Ministry of Health) in the Department of Information Systems Development from 1995 until 2000, where she was the Executive responsible for the Financing System/Classification System in Diagnoses Related Groups. She has over 20 years of experience in research and has developed her expertise around economic evaluation of health technologies, efficiency measurement, equity and quality of life. She has been involved in several scientific associations in the field of health care such as PCSI, EuHEA and the Portuguese Chapter of ISPOR. She has done a wide variety of consultancy work for private and public entities, both in Portugal and abroad.
Judite Gonçalves is a researcher and teaching assistant at Nova School of Business and Economics (SBE) in Carcavelos, nearby Lisbon, Portugal. She is a member of the Nova SBE Health Economics and Management Knowledge Center (NHEM). Her research interests are mainly in the fields of Health economics and Aging. She teaches Statistics, Econometrics, and Health Economics. Previously, she held research positions at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL), UK, and at the Geneva School of Economics and Management (GSEM), University of Geneva, Switzerland, where she got her PhD in Econometrics in 2015.
Julian Perelman holds a PhD in Economics from Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium). He is currently associate professor at the Portuguese National School of Public Health (NOVA University of Lisbon), and Vice-President of the Portuguese Commission for Health Technology Evaluation (CATS). He coordinated the Mission Framework for the Sustainability of the Health Budget Program (Ministry of Health and Ministry of Finance), from 2018 to 2020. He authored more than 80 publications in indexed scientific journals, mainly related to economic evaluation in health, socioeconomic determinants of health, and payment systems and incentives.
Francisca Vargas Lopes is a PhD Candidate at the Public Health Department of the Erasmus Medical Center (EMC), within a project with joint supervision from the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE – Health Economics). The aim of her PhD is to identify policies with the potential to reduce health inequalities in developed countries, by performing impact evaluation and using microeconometrics methods.
In 2017 Francisca completed an MSc in International Health Policy and Health Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), writing her Master’s dissertation on the performance of Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in England. In between completing her Masters and pursuing her PhD she worked in health services research at the Nuffield Trust and as an Outcomes Consultant for Pfizer UK.
Francisca’s previous working experience includes roles in HTA, outcomes research, and pharmacoepidemiology, at Merck Sharp & Dohme Portugal, the Center for Evidence Based Medicines of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (CEMBE) and the Center for Health Evaluation and Research (CEFAR – ANF), respectively. Francisca graduated as a Pharmacist (M.Pharm) in 2013 from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon.
Diogo works as a consultant in MOAI Consulting. He holds a master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmD, BSc and MSc) and a Post-Graduation in Information Management and Business Intelligence in Healthcare from NOVA IMS (PgD). He is currently studying Economics (BSc) in ISEG, Lisbon School of Economics & Management.
MSc in Economic Evaluation for Health Technology Assessment (at the University of York). Before Post-graduation Certification on Epidemiological Methodology (Lisbon University of Pharmacy), MSc in Health Services Management (Business School, University Institute of Lisbon), and Degree in Economics (Lisbon School of Economics and Management).

Ana Moura is a PhD candidate in Economics at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. In fall 2021, she will join the ZEW in Mannheim, Germany, as a post-doctoral researcher.
Ana is an applied microeconomist, broadly interested in the effects of public policy and regulation on healthcare markets and health outcomes.
Ana holds MSc and BSc degrees in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics. She is affiliated with the Health Economics & Management Knowledge Center at Nova School of Business and Economics.
Joana Gomes da Costa is a PhD candidate in Economics at School of Economics and Management – University of Porto.
Joana holds a BSc in Pharmacy from the School of Health Sciences – Polytechnic of Porto and a MSc in Health Economics and Management from School of Economics and Management – University of Porto. During her Master’s, she has developed a Composite Leading Indicator for the Health Status in Portugal.
She has interests for econometrics and large datasets.

Rita Bastião holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Porto (2020) and bachelor and masters’ degrees from the University of Aveiro.
She is currently an Invited Assistant Professor at University of Aveiro and works in the private sector as Head of Corporate Management Control and Internal Audit. Her research has been presented in national and international conferences, over the years.
Her main research interests include Performance Evaluation, Health Economics, Business Economics and Spatial Econometrics.
Associate Professor at the Lisbon School of Economics & Management (ISEG), Universidade de Lisboa. She holds a PhD in Economics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2005), a Master’s degree in Economics from Nova University of Lisbon, and graduated in Economics from Universidade de Coimbra.
She is currently the coordinator of XLAB – Behavioural Research Lab and a member of the Board of the research centres UECE – Research Unit on Complexity and Economics and REM – Research in Economics and Mathematics. Her research interests include areas such as behavioural and experimental economics, game theory, matching theory, and market design. She has published on these topics in journals like Economic Theory, Experimental Economics, Games and Economic Behavior, and International Economic Review.
Carolina Santos is a PhD student in Economics at Nova School of Business and Economics (SBE), in Portugal. Her current research focuses on competition and regulation of pharmaceutical markets. Carolina has worked as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate courses Calculus II and Principles of Microeconomics, at Nova SBE. In 2018, she completed international doctoral courses in Health Economics and Policy at the Swiss School of Public Health. Carolina holds a MSc in Economics and a BSc in Economics, both from Nova SBE.
